One RV recipe you need to keep on hand as we approach New Year’s Eve is for cocktail shrimp & sauce! Cocktail shrimp is a classic crowd pleaser at parties and gatherings, but you can kick it up a notch with this super-easy RV recipe for cocktail sauce. Trust us – you’ll never reach for that storebought bottle again!
Cocktail Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish (adjust to taste for more or less heat)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce (such as Tabasco), optional
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 lbs cocktail shrimp, for serving
Directions
- In a bowl, combine the ketchup, prepared horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce (if using), lemon juice, Dijon mustard, paprika, and garlic powder. Whisk well to thoroughly combine.
- Add salt and pepper to taste. Now’s the time to adjust the rest of the recipe to taste, too! If you want a little more kick, add another dash of Tabasco sauce or a bit more horseradish – or another splash of lemon juice.
- Cover the sauce and refrigerate for up to several hours before serving – but at least 30 minutes! Half an hour of chilling time will bring it to the perfect serving temperature and allow the flavors to meld beautifully.
- Serve your homemade cocktail sauce alongside chilled shrimp. Stand back and let people’s “WOW!!!” expressions take over. Trust us, they’ll be impressed! Refrigerate the leftovers (if you have any!) in a glass jar for up to 3 days.
This cocktail shrimp sauce is versatile and can be adjusted to suit your taste preferences. It’s so easy to customize based on your own personal tastes for a tangy or spicy sauce, and it’s the perfect complement to your chilled shrimp.
