Making this holiday season merry and bright starts with a safe and happy road trip! If you’re going to be traveling for the holidays in your new or used RV, make sure your road trip is memorable in all the best ways. Check out our RV tips for safe driving during the holidays below!
Check That List Twice!
We’ve all been there: setting off for a trip and realizing way too late that you left behind something essential. The RV Checklist app is free – get it in your preferred app store – and can ensure that you’ve got all the essentials packed. It’s like having your own personal holiday assistant!
Winter-Specific RV Service
Tires and tire pressure can be drastically affected by plummeting temperatures. Tire pressure goes down when temps drop, and some tires simply aren’t suitable for driving in wintry conditions. We can get your RV in for some service before you go, change your tires out for snow tires if needed, and take care of any other routine maintenance that’s needed. While you’re on the road, you’ll want to check your tire pressure regularly and add air whenever needed.
Stay Alert, and Slow Down!
Highways and interstates are absolutely packed at this time of year, and inclement weather only makes it worse. We can’t emphasize this one enough: do not speed. Especially when you’re driving or towing an RV. Be willing to pull off if road conditions worsen or affect visibility or the roads get icy – even if you’re delayed by several hours. A late arrival to your destination is better than no arrival at all. The life you save could be your own, or that of your loved ones – so be willing to slow down, pull off, and modify your plans. Better yet, build in extra time for the drive before you leave so minor disruptions don’t turn into an avalanche of delays.
And this goes without saying, but make sure you’re well rested before setting out on the road. If you have a long road trip, break it up into shorter driving stints over a couple days if needed. We also recommend the Overnight Parking Finder app. It can help you locate places you can park overnight, which is especially great if you do have to pull off for a longer stretch of time.
We want you to enjoy safe and happy holidays. Contact us today to schedule some RV service before you head out!
